Plum teachers charged with sex crimes against students
For the second time in a week, a Plum High School teacher has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a student. The 40-year-old English teacher, who will face charges on at least two sex crimes, is also the vice president of the Plum Borough Education Association, representing Plum’s more than 250 educators. Plum Borough police officers arrested the man at around 7 p.m. this past Tuesday evening at his home. He is being charged with one count of institutional sexual assault and one count of corruption of minors. A student told police that she had sex with the suspect at the suspect’s home on more than one occasion. She said that the two of them would also meet in the parking lot of CCAC – Boyce in Monroeville. The victim’s age was not given, but police did say that she is a minor. The girl told police that the two of them began talking and sending text messages of a sexual nature late last year. The Plum Borough police chief said that the suspect began being investigated after police began looking into allegation against another Plum teacher last week, charging him with at least three sex crimes. That teacher, 38, was charged with one count of institutional sexual assault, one count of providing alcohol to minors, and one count of corruption of minors after he was found to have had sex with a 17-year-old girl. The investigation into allegations against the two men are being treated as separate inquiries and it is not believed that the two men “worked together” in any way other than as teachers. When questioned, the Plum school board president had no comment. If you have questions about sex crimes, call Pittsburgh sex crimes attorney Gary Gerson today for a free consultation at 412-219-6875.
