Alleged sex crimes at Plum lead to search warrant
As the Plum School District teacher/student sex scandal continues, Pittsburgh sex crimes attorney Gary Gerson has kept a close eye on the case and following its various nuances. Most recently, Law enforcement officials served a search warrant at Plum High School. Sources say they were looking for electronic files and written records about eight girls who were either directly or indirectly involved in the sex scandal. The two men accused of having sex with students are currently awaiting trial. Allegheny County District Attorney Office detective showed up at the school shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The D.A.’s office is said to have chosen Tuesday because it was an in-service day for teachers and students had the day off. Detectives are said to have seized computer records from Plum’s administrative offices. Sources say they believe serving the search warrant is part of a criminal investigation into the two accused teachers charged in separate cases with having sex with several female, teenaged students. The school district’s superintendent did not return calls and has not said much about the issue other than the school has a zero tolerance policy against sexual relationships between students and teachers. In a letter, he said that “In addition to supporting the outcome of legal proceedings, [the school district] will take corrective action and disciplinary measures for [school staff members] who participate in…inappropriate conduct. One teacher waived his right to a preliminary hearing the day before he was due to in court. There is no word yet on whether or not the other teacher will do the same.
