Man waives preliminary hearing on child porn charges
On Tuesday, a man from Monroeville who was arrested on child pornography charges waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The 45-year-old man was arrested after police found a cache of child pornographic materials in the home he shares with his daughter and 41-year-old wife. After Allegheny County Police searched his home, he was arrested on two counts of child porn possession. The suspect was a volunteer at a youth group at the Living Waters Family Worship Center in North Huntingdon, PA. He had nothing to say during his appearance in front of Monroeville District Court Judge Jeff Herbst. The affidavit says that Allegheny County Police found several computers in the man’s home that contained more than a thousand pornographic images of children. Allegheny County investigators say they served the man and his family a search warrant on 16 October and found what they called “deplorable conditions” inside the home. After the search, police also arrested the man’s wife and charged them both with child endangerment. The child, whose name and age remains anonymous, is now living with family members in New York state. Not securing a private attorney, the suspect is being defended by the Allegheny County Public Defender’s office. The suspect’s public defender declined any comments to the press. Reporters say they saw the suspect concealing his face as he left the office, ignoring all questions. The man’s wife did secure a private attorney, but she and her lawyer both declined comment on her charges of child endangerment.
